22 nd February 2003 GOMA, Glasgow
This event, held at the Gallery of Modern Art in Glasgow, was fairly well attended by both writers and illustrators. The purpose of the event was to help members team up with either a writer or illustrator to produce a rough draft of a picture or storybook inspired by exhibits displayed in the gallery.
Jennifer explained the tasks and writers went into the chosen gallery to create the basis of a story.
Illustrators, many new to ACWIS, were shown picture and storybooks relating to specific age groups e.g. 0 – 5 yrs, 4+, 6+, reluctant readers etc. After some pointers, they were directed to the gallery to produce their sketches.
Everyone returned to the meeting room, explained their thoughts behind their ideas, and then showed or read how they had interpreted them.
All in all it was a very interesting and inspirational event.
